Michigan’s families and job creators are facing skyrocketing energy costs, mounting pressure on our electric grid, and the looming threat of fuel shortages — all while activists try to shut down the infrastructure we depend on to power our lives. That’s why I proudly support House Resolution 91, which voices Michigan’s support for President Trump’s energy policies and the emergency permitting of the Line 5 tunnel project.
Enbridge’s Line 5 delivers more than half the propane used in Michigan and is a vital artery supplying affordable fuel to homes, farms, and factories across the Midwest. The tunnel project — buried deep beneath the lakebed — is a smart, safe, and necessary upgrade that will protect the Great Lakes while ensuring we maintain access to the energy our state needs to thrive.
We should be clear-eyed about what’s at stake. Without Line 5, families in the U.P. will face heating shortages, prices at the pump will surge, and businesses already struggling with inflation will be pushed further to the brink.
President Trump understands that a strong economy depends on a strong energy foundation. His administration’s decision to fast-track permitting is a victory for Michigan jobs, national security, and common sense.
While some in Lansing play politics with our grid, I’m proud to stand with those who are serious about solutions. The tunnel is a win for safety, a win for affordability, and a win for Michigan.
Let’s stop the delays. Let’s get this project built. And let’s ensure Michigan’s energy future is secure, safe, and reliable.
