Rep. Markkanen posts perfect voting record in 2021
RELEASE|January 6, 2022

State Rep. Greg Markkanen, of Hancock, took part in all 640 roll call votes during the 2021 legislative session as he continues to serve as a voice for those across the western U.P.

“It is vitally important to make sure those in the western U.P. are heard in Lansing when it comes to issues and plans that will impact their lives and livelihoods,” Markkanen said. “I will continue to stand by this principle in the coming year.

“I especially would like to thank the many people and experts across various fields throughout the U.P. who I have talked with about legislation and priorities over the past year. These discussions allow for robust representation. They help shape our voice in Lansing and ultimately make that voice loud and clear.”

Markkanen was first elected to the Michigan House in November 2018. He represents the 110th District, which includes Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties, as well as Powell and Ishpeming townships in Marquette County.

Markkanen serves as vice chairman of the House Energy Committee and House Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Committee. He also serves on the House Education Committee and House Workforce, Trade and Talent Committee.

Markkanen, who travels nearly 500 miles in each direction to cast votes for his constituents in Lansing, was one of only 35 House members who finished the year with a perfect voting record.
