Representative Schuette Recognized for 100% Pro-Small Business Voting Record
RELEASE|February 29, 2024

Representative Bill G. Schuette was recognized this week as one of only six lawmakers in the entire state of Michigan with a 100% legislative voting record in support of Michigan’s vital small business sector.

The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) recognized Schuette at its Leadership Council winter event on Tuesday at the state Capitol’s Heritage Hall. The recognition went to Schuette for his diligent work to reduce tax burdens, costs and regulation on Michigan’s local job providers, promote economic growth, and encourage greater relationships between employers and employees.

“Small businesses and the people behind them are a crucial part of our communities,” said Schuette, of Midland. “They sponsor youth sports teams, go out of their way to help when tragedies or natural disasters impact their fellow residents and provide people with livelihoods. I’ll continue to fight for our hardworking people on Main Street in the Legislature by helping them keep more of what they earn and eliminate burdensome and unnecessary regulation.”

“The voting buttons in the Capitol have an immense impact on the operations of small businesses throughout Michigan and those pressing them need to have their finger on the pulse of what policies will hinder their growth and success rate,” said SBAM President and CEO Brian Calley. “While we have bipartisan recognition of many of the issues we work on to support and grow small businesses, only a handful have a clear understanding of how punitive some of these policies are, and how much government overreach could harm them.”

Schuette represents the 95th House District, which includes all of Midland County, and Beaverton, Billings and Tobacco townships in Gladwin County.
